WEG acquired Astra (a manufacturer of school and office supplies) and Zenith (manufacturer of pens) in 1997 during the process of their privatization. WEG restructured, reorganized, and merged both companies and created the leader of the Polish market. In 2003, WEG sold the company to a strategic investor.
