WEG supported Gadu-Gadu at its inception. The company was initially funded as an SMS-based communication engine and then transformed into Poland's most popular web-based communication platform with a market share of 85%. The company also offered advertising, telecommunication, and education services while also operating the MojaGeneracja.pl and Blip.pl social media platforms.
In 2007 WEG listed the company on the Warsaw Stock Exchange and subsequently sold its stake to a strategic investor.
